Audrey Hepburn was born May 4, 1929 in Ixelles, Belgium. Her father was a wealthy banker and her mother, a Dutch baroness. Audrey went to ballet school in London and later began a modeling career. She got bit parts in European films and went to the United States to make her fortune in films. Roman Holiday (1953) was her first American film and landed her an Academy Award for best actress. Other great films were Sabrina (1954), Funny Face (1957), The Nun’s Story (1959), Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961), Charade (1963), and one of her most popular, My Fair Lady (1964).
She became an ambassador to the United Nations (Unicef), helping children in Latin America and Africa.
Audrey died on Jan 20, 1993 in Switzerland of colon cancer.
